Self-adhesive labels to highlight food allergens

Natasha’s Law – Self Adhesive Allergy information labels

Marilyn Briggs News

Many food manufacturers, food service companies café’s and delicatessen brands are preparing for a new law which will come into effect from 1 October 2021.

From this date, all foods produced and packed for sale at the same premises must be labelled with a full list of ingredients. The legislation is coming into force under Natasha’s Law, a new food labelling legislation created after Natasha Ednan-Laperouse had a fatal allergic reaction.

The UK Food Labelling Resource has created a dedicated website to provide information and resources in order to help businesses prepare for Natasha’s Law.

How can Croft Printing help with self adhesive labels?

Self adhesive label printing

Over the last 30 years we have worked with many food production companies helping them to label food correctly using self adhesive labels to display ingredients, cooking instructions and allergy information. We can supply self adhesive labels for cardboard cartons, boxes, bottles, plastic trays, and packaging sleeves.  Labels can be supplied in sheet format as well as on rolls.

We can produce eye catching stickers in a variety of sizes and colours to draw attention to that fact a product contains allergens or meets dietary requirements.

Examples include:

  • Contains – nuts, milk, wheat, gluten, fish, crustaceans, molluscs, sesame, poppy seed etc
  • Dairy Free
  • Suitable for vegans
  • Gluten free
  • Self adhesive allergen alert labels with a tick box that food preparation operatives can use to indicate the allergens contained in the product
  • Food allergy warning labels to display information
  • Food allergy advice labels

Finally, mistakes happen. If you do find that food packaging has an error we can help correct that error by printing a self adhesive label that can be stuck over the error or the entire ingredients panel. In fact, we created a dedicated service called Correctapakand are often known as “the emergency” service as many leading brands trust us to help them get stock back onto shelves quickly. If required, we also have an in-house team who can precision apply the label. In most instances our colour matching ability and precision application service means it is very hard to detect that an over label has been applied.
